Brian Burke thrives in the high-stakes world of cyber incident response, where every second counts and the right strategy can mean the difference between a business surviving or succumbing to a cyberattack.

As Vice President, Insurance & Law Strategy at CYPFER, he plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between incident response, cyber insurance, and legal advisory teams, ensuring a seamless, coordinated response when organizations need it most. 

With seven years of experience in incident response, Brian has been on the front lines of ransomware attacks, business email compromises, and nation-state threats, working alongside cyber insurers and breach coaches to mitigate financial losses, contain reputational damage, and accelerate recovery. He understands that cyber incidents are not just technical crises but legal and financial emergencies—and that responding effectively requires a business-first, recovery-led mindset.

Before joining CYPFER, Brian built his expertise by working alongside legal teams, breach coaches, and forensic experts, gaining an insider’s perspective on how cyber claims are assessed, negotiated, and resolved. This experience allows him to proactively address challenges before they escalate, ensuring insured organizations receive the swift, expert-driven response they deserve. 

Brian holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Society from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a three-year starting defenseman for UNC’s Division 1 lacrosse team. His leadership, strategic thinking, and competitive drive continue to shape his approach to cyber risk mitigation, incident response, and high-pressure decision-making.
