Lars Jacobs is Senior Vice President at CYPFER, where he leads complex cyber incident response and recovery engagements across the globe.

With over 15 years of experience in Digital Forensics & Incident Response (DFIR), cybersecurity advisory, and regulatory crisis management, Lars is a trusted leader for clients navigating high-stakes breaches.

Prior to joining CYPFER, Lars served as Managing Director of KPMG’s EMA Cyber Response & Recovery practice, where he led business-impact-driven cyber engagements for multinational corporations, insurers, and law firms. With a background in digital forensics, network architecture, and IT audit, Lars has supported global clients through the entire cyber incident life cycle – from preparation and detection to containment, recovery, and post-breach legal and regulatory support. His approach focuses on enabling organizations to make informed decisions under pressure, whether during ransomware attacks, advanced persistent threat (APT) and nation state attacks, insider threats, or compliance crises.

Lars is widely recognized for aligning incident response with evolving regulatory frameworks, including NIS2, DORA, GDPR, and SEC guidelines. He has led major post-breach remediation programs, IT and Operational Technology (OT) incident responses & investigations, and breach due diligence assessments for law firms, insurers, and multinational corporations.

In addition to his fieldwork, Lars is a guest lecturer on the topic for two post-graduate studies: Financial Fraud Specialist (Erasmus University) and Cybersecurity & Fraud Awareness (VU School of Business Economics), where he provides students with actionable insights into cyber incidents, how they affect organizations, and how that relates to their job roles.
