Heather Hughes

Heather Hughes is the Vice President of Engagement Management at CYPFER, where she oversees complex, high-stakes engagements in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and risk management.

She guides organizations through the full incident response lifecycle, from investigation to recovery, delivering clarity, confidence, and boardroom-ready strategies. With a focus on bridging technical expertise and business priorities, Heather helps clients navigate crises with resilience while protecting long-term enterprise value.

Heather has over 25 years of experience leading risk management, data protection, privacy and information security engagements for companies of all sizes across the country. Prior to joining CYPFER, Heather served as Vice President of Aon’s Cyber Solutions where she managed hundreds of ransomware and digital forensic investigations.  Heather also served as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for a national litigation support firm for over twelve years and has been engaged as a testifying expert in HIPAA and Privacy related lawsuits.

Heather is a trusted thought-leader and advisor and frequently speaks at state Bar Associations and national organizations on industry specific cyber threats as well as executive cybersecurity threats.  She is a member of the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Partnership where she serves on the Executive Steering Committee.
