Steve Kopeck

Steve Kopeck is an Associate Vice President of Consulting at CYPFER, where he leads complex cyber incidents across industries worldwide. He brings more than 25 years of experience spanning digital forensics, incident response, cyber intelligence, threat monitoring, and litigation support.

Steve is a seasoned cyber investigations leader known for building and directing high performing, squad centered teams capable of managing high pressure, high stakes incidents. His work includes ransomware and cyber extortion matters, business email compromise, cloud and database intrusions, and insider threat investigations across hospitality, ecommerce, healthcare, manufacturing, education, and financial services.

Prior to joining CYPFER, Steve served as a Managing Director at Kroll, where he led multidisciplinary teams responding to cyber intrusions and extortion events affecting global organizations. His career also includes distinguished service as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. During his tenure, he worked within the Criminal Investigative Division to advance the agency’s computer forensics capabilities and served in the Cyber Intelligence Section, collaborating with federal and international partners to combat complex cybercrime. Earlier in his federal career, he conducted forensic analysis on a wide range of sophisticated criminal investigations.

Steve combines federal investigative rigor with deep private sector incident response expertise. He works closely with law firms, insurers, and C suite leaders to advise on data risk, regulatory and privacy exposure involving PCI, PHI, and PII, crisis response strategy, and cyber governance.
